SHORT HISTORY:
Born in the town of Kyustendil . In 1919 graduated from National School of Drawing in Sofia and in prof.St.Ivanov prof.Ts.Todorov. He studied at the Munich Art Academy (1919-24) in the background prof.Hugo Q prof.Karl and Caspar. At the same time, specialized technology, conservation and restoration of the arts in prof.M.Dyorner. From 1924 to 1929 as a freelancer in Munich . Associated with the group of "new objectiveness" (Neue Sachlichkeit) to Munich company "Jury Fry." ....

St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo was founded as a higher institute of education in 1963. Since 1971, it has existed as a state university, the first one of its kind in Bulgaria outside the capital. 

The university comprises of seven Faculties, forty-two Departments, two Colleges of Education in Pleven and Vratsa as well as Educational Centers in Sofia, Plovdiv, Dobrich and P leven, with more than 12, 000 Bulgarian and international students currently enrolled in the various programmes. 

The National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency granted institutional accreditation to the UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO on February 18, 1999. This guarantees the recognition of the conferred diplomas, and enhances students' opportunities for academic mobility during the course of their studies. The UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO participates in a programme for the development of an internal quality assurance system.

The UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO holds membership in the International Association of Universities (IAU), the European Rectors Conference , the East European University Network (AIMOS), the Black Sea Universities Network; 

The UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO has academic contacts with over 50 universities from countries in Europe, America and Africa, with 32 of which it has contracts for academic exchange. UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO's international contacts provide opportunities for mobility of both lecturers and students for specialization, taught courses, part-time education, tutorials, summer schools, language courses.

The University of Veliko Turnovo has signed agreements for co-operation with two universities in Egypt - Suez Canal University Al-Sheik Zayed, Ismailia and The University of Al-Mansura. There is an annual student exchange for the purpose of language learning and practice between these universities and The University of Veliko Turnovo. 

In compliance with international (interstate) and interdepartmental agreements and contracts for academic and cultural exchange lecturers from Albania, Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Romania, and Yugoslavia teach at the UNIVERSITY OF VELIKO TURNOVO.

At the seven faculties, as well as the Colleges and Centers of Education, over 12, 000 students are currently enrolled in more than 50 degree programmes in History, Law, Slavic and European studies, Applied Languages, Education and Psychology, Philosophy, Theology, Economics and Business Studies, Mathematics and Computer Science, Music and Fine Arts. The majority of the courses are taught in Bulgarian, with the exception of the degree courses at the Faculty of Modern Languages which are taught in the relevant language(s). 

Mode of instruction: full-time and part-time options are offered. Distance-learning programmes are being designed currently. 

Every year the University welcomes over 50 new international students. Currently, we have undergraduate, graduate and specializing students from Austria, Albania, Greece, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, USA, and Yugoslavia.
